About Us

BARNABAS LEADERSHIP MINISTRIES (BLM) is an Oklahoma nonprofit corporation registered with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501 (c) 3 organization. BLM is religious, educational, and charitable in nature. It, therefore, ministers to under-resourced and under-trained pastors and lay leaders in sub-Saharan Africa and the World.

Our Name:  The name "Barnabas" originates from Acts 4:36 and means "son of encouragement". It was a nickname that characterized the life of Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus. Joseph must have demonstrated the spiritual gift of encouragement in such an effective way to earn the name "Barnabas".  It is this example set by Barnabas that inspires BLM, and we hope to emulate it in our ministries too.

Our Board: The BLM Board of Directors consists of five members at the moment. The number will be added as need arises. The board serves the three-fold purpose of providing oversight for the ministry, praying together for God's direction and provision, and acting as faithful stewards of the ministry mission and vision. Currently, the board members are:

  • Sam Kirui.........President & Founder
  • Mike McGee....Chairman
  • Leann McGee...Member-at-large
  • Dennis McGee..Treasurer/Secretary
  • Lisa McGee......Member-at-large

Our Mission:  We are convinced that the Lord Jesus has raised up BLM at such a time as this to bless the leaders of His church.  This ministry exists to encourage and equip pastors and lay leaders for the advancing of God's kingdom in their spheres of influence. We, thus, seek to cross geographical, cultural and denominational lines in our operations with the aim of fulfilling God's promise of Isaiah 41:20: "That men [and women] may see and know and consider and understand together that the hand of the Lord has done this…" It is also our desire that they will in turn glorify our Heavenly Father (cf. Matthew 5:16).

Our Vision:  Barnabas Leadership Ministries envisions a raising up and empowering of sons and daughters of encouragement who serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John 1:12 tells us, "But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."  These sons (and daughters) of God rise up to become like Barnabas.  Consequently, these leaders make it their goal to see how inventive they can be by encouraging love and good deeds, and by bearing each other's burdens in prayer, etc (cf. Hebrews 10:23-25).

As the Barnabas Ministry is appreciated as a cup of refreshing cold water, we believe there will be an explosion in terms of the number of sons and daughters of encouragement.  This will occur as leaders replicate the ministry of encouragement through Bible-based, sustainable and reproducible models both INSIDE and OUTSIDE of their ministry environment.

"Vision is directional; it serves to focus an organization's direction.  When a ministry knows its direction, it is able to focus its attention and the energies and the efforts of its people.  A vision functions like a telescope. It brings the distant horizon - the destination - into clear view."
